Leah Albert
Executive director
Leah has built her career in the public sector, advocating for social change in nonprofit and philanthropic organizations. Prior to her work with the Foundation, Leah was a philanthropic advisor to select Bay Area foundations and individuals. She served as the Program Director for The Philanthropy Workshop, where she designed and facilitated experiential programming focused on strategic giving. She also coached members pursuing their own philanthropic goals, advising them to use their full range of talents and resources to catalyze lasting social change. She also served as the manager of the California Committee North for Human Rights Watch, working closely with the philanthropic community on fundraising, advocacy, and outreach. Leah earned her BA in sociology & media studies from Pitzer College and her master’s in media studies from The New School, where she focused on collective memory and the power of film to create social change. Leah is inspired by her two young sons and is an active contributor to their diverse public school system.
